Apply for a Scholarship
Class of 2025 Graduates from Proviso East, Proviso West and Proviso Math and Science Academy going on to 2- or 4- year college or any accredited post-secondary education program including trade school. The deadline is May 12, 2025.
There will be two scholarships awarded to each of the three Proviso Township High Schools – a total of 6 scholarships awarded. Each scholarship will award up to $1,000 per student. Students can apply in only one category. Your application will be judged according to the category you select:
Overcoming Adversity will award students with a GPA of at least 2.0 who have demonstrated academic improvement over their time in high school. The purpose of this award is to support students who may not have the best academic record but have shown determination to succeed in a 2 or 4 year college.
● Applicants should have a history of academic growth and an essay or reference letter(s) that indicate how the applicant has been affected by and is overcoming adverse situations in their life or that demonstrate why the applicant can succeed at the next level.
Persistence Pays will award students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher who have demonstrated consistent academic excellence throughout their high school career. The purpose of this award is to support students who have shown continued excellence in high school, both academically and in extracurricular, home or community activities.
● Applicants should have a strong academic record and an essay that is well written. Applications should also indicate how this student has excelled in areas besides coursework.
Who is eligible for awards:
Graduates of Proviso East, Proviso West or Proviso Math and Science Academy by August 2025.
Students who have either a GPA of at least 2.0 (Overcoming Adversity award) OR 3.5 or higher (Persistence Pays award).
Plans to attend a 2- or 4- year college or any accredited post-secondary education program including trade school.
To apply, submit the following:
1. Application (attached)
2. An essay, no more than two pages, double-spaced. The topic should either be focused on how you overcame an obstacle and/or how you have been able to achieve and/or maintain academic excellence.
3. Your official high school transcript
4. Up to 2 letters of recommendation.
