History & Impact

What began in 2016 as a small effort to raise $6,000 annually has snowballed in recent years to provide increased opportunity to many more students. Between 2016 and 2025, we awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to over 70 Proviso 209 graduates!

209 Scholarship remains volunteer-run and powered by the generosity of our individual, organizational, and small business donors. Some of our first awardees are now volunteers, having graduated with their bachelor’s degrees and already looking to give back.

Our board of directors comes from the community and surrounding areas, all people who have a close personal relationship to Proviso District 209, who want to give back.
