Our Mission:

Empower.

Founded in 2016, the mission of 209 Scholarship (formerly 209 Together) is to empower graduates of Proviso Township District 209 high schools through scholarships awarded to those continuing their education at a 2 or 4 year college as well as accredited trade schools. Secondarily, we serve as advocates for District 209 schools by disseminating information to the community. We provide information about what is happening at the district in order to boost enthusiasm for our local public high schools.

 
 
 
 

Our Impact

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 consists of three public high schools, and draws students from 10 diverse communities. During the 2015-2016 school year, the three district high schools served more than 4,700 students. We select students from these 3 High Schools and award them with a scholarship to be used towards continuing education. Since our inception, we have raised over $50,000 in scholarships from donations that have been used to support the students in order to achieve their dreams.

What began in 2016 as a small effort to raise $6000 annually has grown in recent years to provide increased opportunity to many more graduates.  To date, we have raised more than $50,000!

Over 30 students have been able to achieve their dreams of continuing their education through the 209 Together Scholarship fund.

In the past 5 years we have provided assistance to the students of Proviso East, Proviso West and Proviso Math and Science Academy.

 
 

Our Programs

 

Overcoming Adversity

Awards students with a GPA of at least 2.0 who have demonstrated academic improvement over their time in high school. The purpose of this award is to support students who may not have the best academic record, but have shown determination to succeed.
 

Persistence pays

Awards students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher who have demonstrated consistent academic excellence throughout their high school career. The purpose of this award is to support students who have shown continued excellence, both academically and in extracurricular, home, or community activities.
